In my studio
First of all, I better apologize for the snoring sounds coming from the puppy bed. My noisy Jack Russel gang demands to be in the studio with me to keep an eye on everything, making sure I do it right. But they always fall asleep and goodness can they snore! Oh well, its music to my ears. And what’s not to love about having a house full of wagging tails and puppy cuddles? In this stage, even the cat thinks she is a dog.
Seems you found my blog, I guess you like pets too. Dog person? Cat person? Or let me guess … horses! To be honest, I don’t think it matters. As long as they share our life and make your day brighter with their company, who cares!
About me
My name is Kathrin and as you figured out already, I am a pet portrait artist. Nothing makes me happier than being in my studio, helping people to own their very own piece of artwork of their furry friend. I understand how precious and special pets are and how important the perfect portrait is to an owner. They are so close to our hearts and we want to look at the artwork and see our much loved furry friend, nothing less will do.
I am lucky to share my life with 5 very loving dogs, a sweet little old cat, a multitude of tropical fish and one very beautiful and spirited mare called Glory. Oh yes, there are 2 teenage sons and their long-suffering dad too. They are much more divided on the cat or dog person topic than I am though!
Journey of life
While I was born and reared in a little village in the east of Germany, it was my love of horses that brought me to Ireland in 1997. It all started with a job advertisement in a German paper and ended up changing my life in ways I’d never imagined. From unhappy shopkeeping apprentice and riding school fanatic to creating art in my studio and working with horses worth a LOT of money. I mean, how cool is that!
Over the years, life has been a rollercoaster ride in more ways than one. But the one constant throughout my whole life has been the love for animals. They are my companions and friends, a listening ear while never judging and my ray of sunshine on the dullest of days. I love them unconditionally and feel lucky to have them in my life. They are the reason I am an artist, why I create pet portraits and why I love sharing this talent with others through my paintings. But that’s a story for another day and another blog post.
But if you have any questions, why nor pop me an email on art@kathringuenther.com
I would love it if you would subscribe to my newsletter so I can stay in touch with you. I promise I won’t swamp your inbox. We all live busy lives and I’d much rather create fabulous art for my clients than write emails. My newsletter goes out once every quarter of the year unless I got really exciting news to share and I would hate for you to miss out.
